Color inkjet vs. color laser all-in-one printer?

I’m looking for a color all-in-one/multi-function printer (printer, copier, fax machine, and scanner) with an automatic document feeder and a glass (or whatever it’s made of) flatbed. I need something that’s not too large. We currently have a Canon MultiPASS F50, and while it’s a fantastic machine, we think it might not be a bad idea to begin looking at newer products. I need to know if it’s better to get a color inkjet printer or a color laser printer (this printer has to be color). On average, I usually print black-and-white Word documents (usually 50 pages per week), but do print in color often (aound 10 pages/week). What type would be more cost-effective to get? Any input is greatly appreciated, as are links to expert opinions. (While you can suggest printer models, all I really want is to know if it’s better to get inkjet or laser.)

Okay, I’ll admit it: I’m not really looking for a new printer. I’m doing this for requirement 1 of the Personal Management merit badge, which involves planning for purchasing something that would be considered a major expense. Also, we have a good Brother B/W laser printer (only printer functionality), but that’s on the other side of the room (while we do have a USB cable, it would be too much work to hook it up to this desktop; we use it with the desktop near it and with laptops, but I like the idea icon smile Color inkjet vs. color laser all in one printer? . But, assuming I didn’t have any printer at all, would it be more cost-effective to buy 2 printers? If it’s only (as per yisgood), that might be a very good idea.

All in one printer fax machines?

I have an 800 number, local number and fax number through a VOIP provider (RingCentral). To send a fax I have to scan each page and then attach each page to send it. I want to buy an all in one printer that has fax capabilities so I can fax all pages at once without having to scan each page. Is it possible to buy an all in one printer and have it work like a traditional fax machine but through VOIP services instead of a land line?

I was thinking of getting the Dell Wireless All-In-One Printer 966 or the Brother Network-Ready Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner/ Fax/ PhotoCapture Center. But I dont know which one is better. Can you tell me what you think of the two printers, and if you have one can you tell me your review about how easy, hard, it is, and the problems. I want one that is wireless for my Dell XPS M1710, and one that it good for printing, coping, and scanning, and I will use it for small buisness, so also a fax machine. How do I get my printer/scanner/fax to send a fax?

My printer/scanner/fax machine is from Dell and won’t send a fax to a nearby company. When I go to send a fax, I can locate the fax machine I want to send it to, and send it, but the progress stays at pending and the company isn’t receiving the fax. Does anyone know how to get the machine to deliver the fax fully?

What Features Do I Need in a Multifunction Printer-Scanner-Fax?

I will be using it at home and therefore will not need to share it with anyone else. My use of the printer will be light (about 20 pages a week) and my use of the fax machine will be even less (1 page a month).

When I get back from trips I will have to scan as much as 100 text documents at a time, but then won’t need to scan again for another week. My guess is that I won’t scan more than 200 documents in any one month period.

Here are the features that I think I need:

Big Document Feeder
Flatbed
Separate black and color cartridge
Supports Wireless Technology
16MB of memory

What am I missing from the list?
